Beware nanny state!

The town centre has empty premises as more and more businesses go bust, everyone is worried about the credit crunch, and unemployment is rising.

I know how we can regenerate the area - let's not build a cinema or a bowling centre or anything else that may attract people to the town.

No, lets build some more flats and bring in families from Stevenage, Hitchin, or maybe some deserving families from Hackney or Haringey and add to the problem (Homes for cinema site - Crow January 15).

Unless these homes are allocated to families from Royston, I believe these plans will be opposed vehemently, although maybe not so vocally for the reasons above, so as not to hurt anyone's feelings, and have the nanny state brigade pay you a visit.
