I note with great interest the statement from our new county councillor that she will push for the underpass at Coombes Hole to be done on time.

It would help this to happen if the separate designated cycle track was dropped from the plan.

This would allow the project to be done within the boundaries of the current lane, and at a more realistic cost.

While I understand a grant linked to a separate cycle track did start this latest project a scheme without both would be more practical and cost effective, and less disruptive to the area.

The current project has turned into a mess as the grant keeps becoming a smaller part of the budget while the space, the cost, legal problems, and the disruption to allow for the separate lane keeps increasing.

A new broom on this project is needed and our new councillor could provide that.
