ALBERTA is undoubtedly the jewel in Canada's crown.
It has the drama of the Rockies and the attraction of national parks which spill over into British Columbia.
One in particular is worth visiting. The Banff National Park is between Banff and Lake Louise and has endless canyons and a changing landscape which really do capture the imagination.
To save time and energy during a visit to the Banff National Park, visitors can take a cable car to reach places for the chance to hike at a higher level without having to start at the crack of dawn.
Early morning or evening rides will give visitors a better chance of seeing wildlife.
Banff, itself, is a bustling tourist centre, although for visitors who would like something smaller there is the nearby town of Jasper.
The area includes, too, the national parks at Kootenay and Yoho, which are ideal for a spell of hiking.
Banff offers luxury such as the Spring Hotel right down to staying in a room at the YMCA.
The national parks in Alberta provided the locations for the film Brokeback Mountain.
