ROYSTON was isolated as snow drifts 10ft high blocked the A10 and the A505.

It was said to be the worst weather for 10 years.

The blizzards saw almost 200 people "trapped" in the town. They were given temporary accommodation at the police station and the health centre.

One problem caused by the weather was when the maternity ward at Royston hospital ran out of heating oil.
