PLANS are under way for this year's Cambridgeshire County Show.

The show, organised by the Cambridgeshire Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs, will be held at Wimpole Hall on Sunday, June 1.

Organisers will be hoping to work on the success of last year's show.

The event has its roots in agriculture and plans to re-create the traditional county show.

The emphasis is on promoting British food and farming and gives local young farmers the opportunity, too, to display their skills in annual competitions.

A range of traditional crafts such as thatching and wood turning will be on display.

Visitors will have the chance to demonstrate their own dogs' skills in the terrier racing event in the main ring.

Trade stands from local agriculture machinery dealers to land agents will have displays at the show, along with stands for country clothing and plants.

The ever-expanding food hall will allow visitors to experience British Food and Farming at its Best with everything from hog roasts to home-made cakes.

Young farmers will be in action at the show as they compete in annual competitions.

The main ring will include activities such as a gundog scurry, quarter horse display and heavy horse driving.

There will be, too, a sheepdog demonstration from David Seamark to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the show.

And to show Farming Through the Ages there will be a parade of vintage and modern machinery.

The show will run from 10am-5pm and tickets will cost £6 (adults), £4 (under-16 and concessions) Free (under-5) and Family £18 (two adults and two children).
