The Royal National Institute of Blind People is there for everyone affected by sight loss.

Whether you’re losing your sight, blind or partially sighted, the charity’s practical and emotional support can help you face the future with confidence.

They could not provide this service without the help of a dedicated team of volunteers, and now the RNIB is looking for more local people to get involved to help them with some exciting new developments.

Are you passionate about the power of technology? Do you believe that technology should be accessible to all?

Volunteers are needed to help people with sight loss set up, troubleshoot and provide guidance on using technology in their home. You will provide support with a wide range of equipment from TVs and mobile phones to talking book players and e-readers

Do you have skills and experience in IT, smartphones and tablet technology? You could put your problem solving skills and expertise to use by supporting people with sight loss to use their computers, tablets and smart phones.

Or what about helping people with sight loss explore the options of getting online? Could you share your knowledge and enthusiasm to help people engage with technology? You will deliver group training and demonstrations and visit people in their home to help them individually with basic online skills.

Whatever you choose to do, you will receive full training and support and really make a difference to people’s lives and yours, too, by meeting new friends and learning new skills.
