DOUBLE yellow lines should finally be in place in York Way next month.

Royston County Councillor Doug Drake told last week's meeting of the Royston area committee that if no objections came from residents, the lines could be painted as soon as February 23.

Cllr Drake said: "It makes me quite wild that we've been made to hang around this long. We need a safe carriageway into our industrial estate."

Cllr Robert Inwood added: "Let's hope they go in sooner rather than later."

The yellow lines were requested by residents living in the area of York Way, because of the number of cars that are parked there during the day.

Last April Kelly Reeman was killed when she was crossing the road, and was in collision with a motorcycle.
