THE Royston Handcraft Exhibition saw more than 100 exhibits.

Cross-stitch, tapestry, felt-work, free-style embroidery, pottery, porcelain work, crewl work, knitting and crochet were among the pieces on display.

Committee member Pet Deverson said: "At every exhibition, the standard of work gets better as does the increase in the variety of different crafts exhibited."

Former crafts teacher Mavis Symonds judged the works.

The Lady Trafford Cup was awarded to Pat Neaves for her silverwork embroidery picture and the junior cup to Charlotte Gilhooly for her popcorn bear picture.

Runners-up were Janey Wise, for her blackwork owl, and Harriet Reeves-Keane (junior runner up), for her snooker clock.

The People's Choice salvers were won by Dawn Yates for her bird table picture and Eden Bogie (junior winner) for her cockerel at dawn picture.

Certificates were awarded to Roman Way First School and The Old Barn Day Centre for their group work exhibitions.

The next exhibition will take place in May, 2008.
