Wood Green Animal Shelters received a boost with a donation from a Royston store.
Tesco in Royston has been collecting for Wood Green over the last few months, and gifts from customers have amounted to a total of �1,270.
Heydon shelter manager Mrs Gay Baxter received a cheque from Tesco representative Mandy Jinkerson.
Meanwhile the shelter is hoping to raise more funds at a Christmas shopping weekend at their Heydon shelter.

Advice will also be on offer to visitors who have pet rabbits or guinea pigs.
Mrs Baxter said: "We are looking forward to seeing lots of people over our festive weekend and will be giving very important health information and advice for pet owners of guinea pigs and rabbits.
