The incident took place on the A505 between Royston and Therfield on Saturday morning.

The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) were alerted at 10.42am, and the trust’s hazardous area response team (HART), a paramedic ambulance crew and two officers attended the collision.

Ambulance officer Gary Sanderson, who attended the scene, said the 38-year-old woman sustained a “significant head injury”.

He said: “Four other men were very lucky to walk free with no injuries. The woman was treated and stabilised by paramedics and fire fighters before she was taken to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage for further care.”
