POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a road accident in which a woman from Ashwell later died.

The 46-year-old cyclist had been waiting at the junction of Lucas Lane and Station Road when the collision happened at 5.38pm last Tuesday. The other vehicle involved was a silver Seat Ibiza, driven by a man from Cambridgeshire.

The woman was taken to Addenbrooke's hospital with severe head injuries, but died on Wednesday.

Pc Ruth Catchpole, from the Eastern Area Road Policing unit, said: "Investigations into this incident are currently ongoing, but I would like to appeal for any witnesses to the collision.

"I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and believes they may have information which would assist us with our inquiries to contact the police."
