A Royston woman who organised her first Companion Dog Show in memory of her late husband said it was a "huge success".

Carol Bailey’s husband Mitchell died in an accident involving an on-duty fire engine in January, and Carol and her family have been supported by the Road Victims Trust – which the show in Longstowe on Sunday was in aid of.

Mrs Bailey told the Crow: “It was a huge success and the drizzle first thing didn’t stop people coming out to support us.

“We raised £1,500 for the Road Victims Trust which I’ll be handing over to them later this week.

“From the feedback received so far people have asked if we will host another one next year, so maybe it might become an annual event.”

Mrs Bailey’s event also follows the Baileys’ son George, 22, taking on a 24-hour gaming marathon for the cause – where he raised more than £1,300.
