Runners are to set off on Sunday for a fundraising 10k race at the historic Wimpole estate in support of a charity set up by a Meldreth man following the death of his son.
Race organisers Hoohaah chose the MindEd Trust – set up by Steve Mallen after his son Edward committed suicide in 2015 – as their charity for the year and have raised £6,000 from donations from runners who choose to give when signing up online.
Steve said: “At least 650 people will be running on Sunday which shows the depth of the issue of mental health and the money raised will be used to improve health and happiness in our community – we want to remove stigma of mental illness and improve awareness.”
The race is the second of four runs by Hoohaah this year, with Edward’s friend Seb Grant hoping to complete the three 10k races. The next one is at Hatfield Forest in Essex on June 19, with runners and volunteer marshals welcome.
