In an intimate tribute to war heroes from RAF Duxford, an exhibition was launched on Thursday to remember seven local people who served in the air force in the Second World War.
The People in The Battle of Britain exhibition was launched by family members of the heroes, including cousins of Women’s Auxillary Airforce member Maria Blewitt and the son of Gordon Sinclair, who was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1940.
Gordon’s son Alan spoke of his pride in seeing his father’s mementos at the exhibition, but added: “Like many of those involved in the war, he never disclosed much about his escapades.”
Maria’s cousin Chaz Bazeley said: “She was a fun loving, and out going person, and it is wonderful that she has been chosen as the only female represented here.
“She would have been so delighted with all this.”
