THE Royston in Bloom team are hoping to brighten up the town.
They spent Friday morning with volunteers from the Hertfordshire Careers Service planting bulbs on a number of sites around the area.
The bulbs had been sponsored by the public after Royston in Bloom ran a stall at the recent Farmer's Market.
Angela Louch, chairman of the Royston in Bloom committee, said: "The people of Royston overwhelmingly want to brighten up their town.
"We were delighted at the public's response to our request for support," she said.
The Hertfordshire Careers Service's volunteers undertake to assist a local community project for the improvement of an area as part of a corporate social responsibility scheme.

Bulbs for the planting project were sponsored, too, by Lateral Concepts, Elite Support Services and the Grange Lodge.
The planting areas around Royston have been selected where visual impact will be the greatest - and the least likely to be vandalised.
Meanwhile, the mowing teams from North Herts District Council will be leaving the areas uncut for several weeks to allow for the bulbs to become established.
"Hopefully one day's effort from these public spirited volunteers will benefit the people of Royston for many years to come," said Mrs Louch.
One of the sites for bulb planting was at the Grossalmerode Garden between Royston Town Hall and the health centre in Melbourn Street.
And one person giving a helping hand at the site was David Gray, the chairman of the Royston and District Town Twinning Association.
