BARKWAY Village Hall is celebrating its 80th birthday on Saturday.
To mark the event villagers aged between eight-70 will be attending a variety show at the hall where there will be a re-enactment of the opening of the building in 1926. The, original documents will be on display.
The hall opened as a Women's Institute hall, but was later given to the village in the 1970s as part of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations.
Ros Richardson, vice-chairman of the village hall, said: "In the last four years the hall has been brought up to high standards.
"It's a community building which is used by various groups including the bowls club and the playgroup and in the last 40 years it's been used more and more."
Last year Barkway won the older person category in the Village of the Year awards as well as winning the Community Life category in 2004.
Mrs Richardson said: "The village hall is a focal point and contributed to the village winning these awards.
