ROYSTON’S mayor has expressed his relief that no-one was harmed in yesterday’s (Thursday) chemical spill.
The Newark Close incident closed roads and led to businesses being evacuated, however no-one was harmed and Robert Inwood has comended both the police and fire for their swift action.
“I was very concerned about local residents and the effect it could have on them,” he said.
“I’m glad it is finished and no-one was hurt, I would like to commend the brave fire men and police for their swift action in dealing with this incident.”
Mr Inwood was one of the first people on the scene and had also volunteered to assist if residents needed to be evacuated.
