Two people hospitalised after two-vehicle crash on A1198 near Bassingbourn Barracks leaves car in ditch

Two people have been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash on the A1198 near Bassingbourn Barracks today that left one car in a ditch.

Two people have been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle crash on the A1198 near Bassingbourn Barracks today that left one car in a ditch.

Emergency crews were called shortly after 10.30am to the Old North Road, where two people were trapped in their vehicles following the crash.

One person managed to get free unaided, but other – in the car in the ditch – required help from firefighters to get out.

Two ambulance crews and an ambulance officer treated the casualties at the scene for minor injuries before taking them to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for further care.

The road was blocked for more than two hours, and reopened at about 1pm.
