Two people had to be cut free after a four-car collision on the A505 this morning.

Emergency services were called at about 10.30am following reports of a Vauxhall Meriva ending up on its roof after being involved in a crash with three other cars near the turning for Melbourn.

The Essex Air Ambulance landed in a nearby field at around 11am and cutting equipment was used to free two people from the Vauxhall.

They were both treated for neck and back injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. Neither required hospital treatment.

The A505 was temporarily closed between Fowlmere and Barkway causing long delays on both sides of the carriageway, but was reopened at about 2.30pm.
