TWO PEOPLE were taken to hospital with serious injuries following a crash that closed the A505 last night (Tuesday).

The incident happened at about 5.40pm, near the Chrishall Grange turning between Royston and Thriplow. It involved two vehicles, a blue Rover 218 and a white panel van.

Police attended the scene, together with an ambulance, and fire crews from Royston and Sawston.

Fire fighters had to use cutting equipment to free two people from the vehicles. They were taken by ambulance to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, with serious, but not life threatening, injuries.

The A505 was closed until 7pm, and one carriageway remained shut until 8pm.
