A man charged with attempted murder after an incident at a Royston chemical firm has pleaded not guilty in court, but admitted lesser offences.

Peter Duffy – of Elm Walk in Royston – appeared at St Albans Crown Court and entered two not guilty pleas for attempted murder, following an attack at Johnson Matthey on July 20.

The 53-year-old pleaded guilty to two counts of wounding with intent and two of possession of an offensive weapon at the Orchard Road site.

The trial is due to start on January 9, 2017.
