To mark the 300th birthday of one of England’s finest landscape designers, the director general of the National Trust planted a tree in his honour at Wimpole Hall.
One of a handful of key commemorative tree plantings across properties of the trust, the plane tree was planted on Tuesday within Capability Brown’s majestic North Park landscape masterpiece at Wimpole.
There will be many themed events to celebrate the designers birth, including a major contemporary artwork by NEON.
The event is part of a wider plan which will see the planting of 1,000 trees in ten years on the Wimpole estate.
