THE man killed last Monday when he was struck by a train in Royston has been named.

Police revealed it was 26-year-old Kevin Atkins of Wrexham Terrace, Royston who was hit near the town’s Ivy Farm crossing.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “I can confirm the man who was struck by a train close to Ivy Farm foot crossing, Baldock Road, Royston, on Monday, 23 April was Kevin Atkins, aged 26 of Royston.

“The incident, which was reported to BTP at 12.31pm and also attended by officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary, is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Paramedics from East of England Ambulance Service also attended but Mr Atkins was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A file will now be prepared for the coroner.”

The train involved was the 11.45 Kings Cross to Kings Lynn service and the track was handed back to Network Rail at 1.28pm.
