TRAFFIC was brought to a standstill in Royston when heavy rain caused Melbourn Street to flood.
Police were called at 12.51pm after reports of flooding in Royston town centre, and subsequently the road was closed in the direction of Baldock for around 40 minutes.
Traffic was diverted down Melbourn Road and round the A505 Royston bypass. This caused long tailbacks all the way down Kneesworth Street.
Crews from Hertfordshire Highways are now at the scene, and are also attending to reports of flooding in Fish Hill, Royston.
