A WHEEL-chair lift may be installed in Royston Town Hall to help people with disabilities.
The idea of the lift would save Royston Town Council spending thousands of pounds on the installation of a lift.
It would meet the requirements of the Government's disability act and provide access to the upper hall.
Members of Royston Town Council's general purposes and highways committee decided on Monday evening to look at the costs of providing a wheelchair lift.
Meanwhile, almost £500 is to be spent on providing a ramp leading to toilets on the ground-floor.
The cost is expected to include the provision of grab-rails in the toilet.
In the past, the town council has had complaints from groups using the town hall that there was not a proper access to toilet for people with disabilities.
Some £1,400 is to be spent on providing equipment including chairs and tables for the Market Hill Rooms.
The town council had hoped that the cost would be met in a bid to the Lottery's Awards for All scheme. This, however, was turned down.
