CONSERVATIVES have held the Meridian ward in a Royston Town Council by-election.
Tory candidate Graham Palmer had a 115 vote majority over Liberal Democrat Lisa Thompson.
The Labour candidate, Vaughan West, got 112 votes.
The turn-out for the by-election was 24 per cent.
In the build-up to the by-election there has been an issued over polling cards being sent to properties not in the ward.
This led to North Herts District Council hand-delivering a letter telling residents that although they had received polling card they could vote in the by-election.
The by-election was caused by the death of Cllr Peter Lill, who died from a massive heart attack on the last day as Mayor of Royston in May.
