THE Conservative party remain the dominant force on Royston town council following yesterday’s election.
Thirteen of the council’s 15 seats are now in Conservative control, with the other two going to the Liberal Democrats.
Long serving ex-district councillor F John Smith was elected as one of five Tories in Meridian ward, while two new faces will represent Heath ward, with Conservatives John Davison and Victoria Hulstrom being elected.
In Palace ward, Conservative Martin Beaver makes a return to the council, while Liberal Democrats Rob Inwood and Elizabeth Freeman were elected, along with councillors Lynn Berry and Philip Mayne.
