A Christmas bike ride to raise money for a safer walking and cycling link between Royston and Melbourn will be held next Saturday.
The ride will be short – just 30 minutes around town – but riders will be cycling in Santa gear, tinsel and maybe a white beard or two.
The purpose is to initiate match-funding opportunities toward a safe off-road A10 path and A505 bridge, linking Melbourn and Royston.
Member of A10 Corridor Cycling Campaign, Susan van de Ven, said: “The Department for Transport’s Local Sustainable Transport Fund grants, introduced by former Liberal Democrat Transport Minister Norman Baker and geared to localized projects like this one, are being discontinued by the Conservative government.”
Cyclists will meet at 12.15pm at Royston Station.
A sponsorship form can be downloaded on the campaign group’s website at a10corridorcycle.com/events.
