BUDDING journalists at Thriplow Primary School have gone to press with the latest edition of the school's magazine.

The Thriplow Times was first produced by the school's writing club in 1999.

The 21st issue went on sale in time for this year's Thriplow Daffodil Festival.

Writing club co-ordinator Susan van der Ven said: "The writing club meets once a week, and it's a really good opportunity for the children to build their confidence.

"They get involved with every stage of producing the magazine, from researching and writing the articles to designing the pages."

The magazine includes an in-depth interview with Thriplow-based Alzheimer's campaigner Barbara Pointon, a profile of Radio Addenbrooke's, and a report on a visit to the houses of Parliament the children made last July.

Readers can also enjoy a game of Thriplow top trumps.

Mrs Van der Ven said: "We've even got an article from one of the original writing club members, who has just started university."

She added: "We're taking a trip to Buckingham Palace this term, so that's certain to feature in the next issue.
