Almost £1,200 was raised when three generations of the same Royston family walked in solidarity in memory of a caring daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend.

Sarah Jeray died at the age of just 32 after living with Freidriech’s Ataxia – a rare disease that causes nervous system damage and affects coordination and speech.

Family and friends took part in the City Bridges Challenge to raise money for Ataxia UK – a charity that funds and promotes research into the condition.

After the walk, mum Joy said: “Well done everyone, I am so pleased and I am sure Sarah would be proud of each and everyone of you.”

Brother Paul said: “The day was beautiful and warm. As well as our family we were also joined by Anna Taylor, Charlotte and Lucy Close. Together we raised almost £1200 which is a great amount for a little known charity. I am certain Sarah was looking down on us and kept the day pleasant for us.”
