A navy cadet from Melbourn has celebrated his commissioning as a Royal Navy officer in front of family and friends at the Britannia Royal Naval College in Devon.
Matthew Karner, 26, completed most of his 30-week intensive training course in Dartmouth, but also conducted exercises in the Baltic aboard HMS Ocean.
The former Melbourn Village College student said: “This is the proudest day of my career to date. I look forward to the next stage of training to become a fully-fledged member of the marine engineering branch.”
