Have you ever wanted a slice of the life of a superstar footballer? Of course you have.
Forget Bending it like Beckham, you could be driving like the sporting icon in a car he used to own – as H&H Classics present a football team of Ferraris for auction at the Imperial War Mueum in Duxford.
David Beckham’s 2001 Ferrari 360 Spider leads the line-up, and could fetch as much as £95,000.
Damian Jones is head of sales at H&H Classics and is thrilled about next week’s auction.
“This Duxford sale provides 10 opportunities to buy and own a fabulous Ferrari in the year that the fabled Italian marque celebrates its 70th anniversary,” he said.
“Each has its own magic and would be great to drive and, although condition varies, they encompass everything from a ‘garage find’ through to concours contenders.”
The car formerly owned by Beckham is finished in nero black with full Sabbia leather interior, He was certainly a fan of the model, acquiring another 360 Spider in 2003.
Stated to have covered just 7,800 miles from new, the Ferrari has recently undergone a cambelt service at JCT 600 in Leeds.
Powered by a 3.6-litre V8 engine coupled to either a six-speed manual or F1 electrohydraulic manual transmission, the 360’s lighter weight improved the 0-60 mph dash to just 4.2 seconds with a nominal top speed of more than 180mph.
Mr Jones added: “Any Ferrari 360 is a seriously exciting car to drive, but this one with its notably low mileage and former ownership by a global icon is truly special.”
It is fitted with such desirable extras as forged lightweight BBS alloys, wide carbon fibre backed racing seats, privacy glass, F1 gearbox, Challenge rear grille and Tubi sports exhaust system. It is offered with an extensive Ferrari service history and will possess a fresh MOT by the time of sale.
If Becks’ motor doesn’t quite get you going, other models in the mix include a Ferrari 330GT Nembo Spider estimated at £500,000 to £700,000, Ferrari 250GT PF Coupe rebodied as a California Spyder which could go for £800,000, a Ferrari 330GT 2+2, estimated at around £200,000, a Ferrari 512 M estimated at £170,000 to £190,000, and a 512 TR, estimated at £135,000 to £155,000.
