IT paid off to think pink for two women who ran one of the largest charity events in the area on Friday. Jo Sell, from Meldreth, and Emma Poultney, from Melbourn, hosted a Pink Party Exravanganza at the Cambridge Motel, Shepreth, in aid of Cancer Research UK - and raised more than £8,000. Jo said: "It went even better than we could have expected. "In the last 18 months, Emma and I have lost loved ones to cancer, and last August, Emma lost her mum, which was horrific. "We have done other charity events to raise money, including the Run for Life, but we wanted to try and arrange an event in memory and celebration of our loved ones," she said. The evening began with a speech by Helen Crowe, who suffered from bowel cancer. An auctioneer from Cheffins oversaw a charity auction where lots ranged from signed items from McFly to EastEnders cast, from football match tickets to dinner at Stringfellows.
