THIEVES broke into two schools in the area and stole computers and projectors.

They struck at Steeple Morden Primary School on Monday night by breaking in through a window.

Fifteen laptop computers and two overhead projectors were taken - which the school had for only three weeks.

A Cambridge County Council spokesman said: "The equipment was locked away in a secure store.

"The cost of the break-in, including damage, is about £15,000 and we will be reviewing the school's security measures.

"There won't be too much impact on the children's lessons, but we urge anyone who saw anything suspicious to call Cambridgeshire police."

Therfield First School was also targeted.

Thieves broke into the school on Saturday through a rear window and stole a ceiling mounted overhead projector.

A spokesman for Hertfordshire County Council said: "The school has now added extra security measures."

In recent months there have been a number of thefts from schools, involving new equipment.
