Clare Swarbrick has explained in her own words why those eligible to vote should choose her in the Conservators of Therfield Heath and Greens 2020 election on February 19.

Since the public inquiry into the proposed land swap, there has been much division and mistrust in relation to the conservators.

It has sometimes felt that the politics at play runs the risk of losing sight of the most precious and important issue; ensuring that we all work together to protect this wonderful asset.

Therfield Heath is far too important to you and me to get lost in politics.

All conservators (past and present) have given or give their free time to safeguard the heath, and I for one am very grateful for that.

However, I also believe it is now time for change.

I want to add my energy and make a tangible and positive difference by working with all the Conservators to ensure the heath has a long-term sustainable future, secured for generations to come and I believe my 20 years of experience working in the charity sector will bring a different and new perspective.

I've lived in Royston for 18 years, my children and I use the heath for sports and enjoy spending time there. It is one of the reasons I love living here, along with the people.

So, what will I do if elected? I want to safeguard the heath by using my fundraising, strategic planning and charity governance experience to develop a long-term plan and funding strategy. Without this there remains the risk of parts of the heath being sold off to developers, car parking charges and other short-term measures to gain funds

I would like to play a positive role and help build on the new start the conservators have announced regarding openness and transparency.

I want to play my part in ensuring all users continue to have the opportunity to use the heath.

The heath is for everyone in Royston, Therfield and surrounding areas: ecology, general and dog walking, and sports and recreation.

I think it's time to forget the politics and start working together to secure the future of the heath for everyone.

If you do too, please lend me your vote on February 19.
