A Royston school’s fundraising week for Comic Relief featured the event some pupils can only dream of – the opportunity to throw wet sponges at their teachers.
Meridian School hosted numerous events last week in the run up to Red Nose Day, including a charity football match, tug of war, non-uniform day and school assembly to help people in need at home and abroad.
Some students offered much larger donations to be able to throw a whole bucket of water over a teacher’s head at the ‘Soak the Teacher’ event.
Head of sixth form Jessica Weatherall said: “Having a bucket of water thrown over your head in March isn’t nice, but it was worth it if it means there’s a larger donation in the collection tin.”
Sixth Form prefect Hannah Smith said: “It’s been a very exciting week with a lot of fundraising. We hope to have raised a great amount for an incredible cause.”
