Stevenage-based advocacy charity POhWER has hailed its Shout About It summit at the town’s arts and leisure centre as a striking success.

The conference brought together nearly 50 county organisations whose work brings them into contact with people who need help and support.

Among them were Herts Fire & Rescue, Leonard Cheshire Disability, Herts Society for the Blind, and Mind in Mid Herts.

Event organiser Natasha Bartley said: “It’s been another fantastic event. The feedback from stall holders and members of the public has been very positive and we had nearly 400 members of the public visiting throughout the day.”

Sue Ross from Hitchin support group Lifegeta said: “We’ve met loads of people and made a lot of contacts. Because of the networking and contacts we’ve made we also now have a few people who would like to come to our group in the future”.

PohWER (People of Hertfordshire Want Equal Rights), based in Primett Road, is now planning more outreach events.
