STUDENTS could win a trip to New York after wheeling and dealing in the stock market to make the final of a virtual investment competition.
The team of four from Melbourn Village College – called Hebby Investments – have won through to the south east regional final of the IFS school of finance Student Investor Challenge. If successful, they will win an all-expenses paid trip to the Big Apple worth £2,000.
For the last three months the team has been trading virtual shares, making £24,000 and outperforming the FTSE 100 share index in the process.
Rod McKee, from the IFS, said: This is a real achievement and many congratulations go to the team from Melbourn Village College.
“This competition gives students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of making investment decisions, which will benefit them throughout their lives when making financial choices.”
