STUDENTS from across Royston came together for a strings workshop at Greneway School.
Schools taking part included Studlands Rise First, Tannery Drift First, Icknield Walk First, Greneway Middle, Roysia Middle and Meridian Upper with musicians ranging in age from eight to 18.
They were led by Hazel Fairburn from Herts Music Service, and the music they played was of an African theme, linking with the Connecting Classrooms project where schools in the area pair up with schools in Guyana.
The musicians hope to perform one of the pieces they learned at the Royston Rotary Club Youth Makes Music concert on Friday, March 6, at the University of Cambridge Concert Hall, West Road, Cambridge.
One of the students who took part said: "It's cool learning music with other schools, and I love the songs we're playing. I thought I'd be scared playing with older people, but it's been fun.
