MORE than 600 people are set to enter this year's Pink Ribbon Run/Walk on Sunday.

The event on Therfield Heath will be raising money for Cancer Research UK.

And this year organisers are hoping that £40,000 will be raised.

This will mean that over the past three years £100,000 has been donated to the charity.

Over the past weeks one of the organisers, Maurice Hill, chairman of Royston Runners, has been giving groups - including Scouts from Steeple Morden - training sessions to prepare them for the three-mile event.

Organisers are hoping that 1,000 people will be talking part on Sunday - and entries for the event will be allowed up to 10am.

This year Johnson Matthey is supporting the event by covering the costs of organising the day.

Michaela Huffer, one of the organisers, said: "It it invaluable to us. It means that every penny raised will be donated to Cancer Reseach UK."

The event's main sponsors will be the Royston-based accountants WKH.

Other sponsors involved are The Heath Sports Centre, the Rotary Club of Royston, Curwens Solicitors, Internet Geeks, The Stationery Cupboard, Wooden House Design & Media, Brooks Running, and Tesco.
