Steeple Morden C of E Primary School is brimming with pride after being recognised as outstanding for its top-notch sports facilities and commitment to promoting games.
The school was awarded a Gold Mark Award under a Government led scheme called Sainsbury’s School Games.
School governor Brian Burton said: “We are particularly proud of this achievement because we believe children taking part in sport has huge benefits for their health, confidence and ability to work with others.”
The school was given the gold mark to honour the success and great participation of pupils in PE lessons, sports clubs, intra and inter-schools competitions, and its success at local and regional finals.
The Greneway Middle School was also handed gold, Roman Way First School, Icknield Walk First School, and Roysia Middle School were awarded silver. St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Meridian School and Tannery Drift were awarded bronze.
