A TEENAGER recovering from a rare form of cancer will be joined by Ellen MacArthur for a week of outdoor activity.
Charlotte Butterworth, of Steeple Morden, has joined other previous beneficiaries of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust for five days of archery, sailing and kite flying.
“I am really looking forward to sailing and meeting new people. Sailing gives me the confidence to try new things,” the 14-year-old said.
She was diagnosed with Synovial Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer near the joints of the arm or leg, in 2003, and was treated at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Dame Ellen MacArthur will see the young people at Bradwell Outdoors, Essex, during the week to welcome them back to the trust.
The famous sailor said: “These children are truly amazing.
“They face experiences that no child should ever have to go through, and yet they do it with the biggest smile on their faces, they are truly inspiring.”
