CHEF Sarah Peukert has been crowned Steak Pie Champion 2007 in a national competition.
Sarah, who is second chef at the National Trust's Old Rectory restaurant at Wimpole Hall, claimed the title with her Wimpole Raised Steak and Mushroom Pie.
She received the award from Farming and Food minister Lord Rooker after a head-to-head battle with five other chefs.
Sarah said: "I reached the final two years ago but I didn't win so I was determined to concentrate on creating the perfect pie."
She said she had every confidence that she would "deliver in the final".
