ENGLAND hockey star Jo Ellis officially opened Bassingbourn's new sports centre on Saturday.
Jo, a former pupil at Bassingbourn Village College, cut the ribbon at the centre, which includes a sports hall, dance studio, and an all-weather pitch.
Sports centre manager Paul Knight said: "Jo used to go to school here so she was happy to come back and mark our launch day.
"The centre has actually been open to the public for about three weeks now, and we've already had a good response.
"The school is using it constantly throughout the week, and we have plenty of evening and weekend classes going on."
The launch day enabled visitors to try activities.
Mr Knight added that he hoped the open day "will raise awareness of the options which are available to local people here at the centre.
