INSPIRING children to write was a challenge taken up by Cambridge author Richard Burns. He ran a poetry workshop for pupils at Steeple Morden Primary School. They had to write imaginatively and descriptively about their hands, or the seasons of the year.

He ran a poetry workshop for pupils at Steeple Morden Primary School.
They had to write imaginatively and descriptively about their hands, or the seasons of the year.
The day was organised as part of the school's programme to raise the profile of writing.
Year 1 teacher Victoria Penty, said: "It got the children thinking about what a poem is.
"It also gave the older children an idea of how long it takes to write a poem and encouraged the younger children to use language in an exciting way.
