A DANCE school in Royston is turning its attention to musical theatre as a result of its growing success.

Not only has The Stephanie Prior School of Dancing increased its student numbers by morte than 65 per cent in the last year, but every student at the school received honours in their freestyle disco and street dance exams which were recognised by the National Association of Teachers of Dancing.

School principal Tara Prior, pictured below, said: "The school has gone from strength to strength and for this reason it made me look at other avenues."

Tara will be working with London West End vocal coach Marcella Lord to offer lessons in musical theatre.

Marcella who gained a first class honours degree in performing arts has starred in musicals including Calamity Jane, Blood Brothers and Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Tara said: "Students will get the chance to realise how it feels to perform excerpts from popular musicals, using a combination of song, dance and drama."

The school will be offering a workshop which will give an insight into musical theatre on Thursday, January 25.
