A YOUNG woman from Melbourn will be swapping her walk to work for the Inca Trail next year to raise money for a disability charity.

Carly Watts, 18, of Water Lane, is looking for sponsors to help her make £2,500 for Whizz-kidz. The charity provides mobility equipment to disabled children.

Miss Watts, who works for BHS in Cambridge, said that she was inspired to help the charity after seeing the benefits first hand.

She said: "There is a friend of my family who is disabled and who was helped by Whizz-kidz.

"I think it is amazing what they do."

The trip will not be the first time that Miss Watts has raised money for the charity from walking, although the terrain is different this time.

She said: "I have done a couple of runs before. I did the Flora London Challenge for Whizz-kidz but I hope to raise much more money this time."

The trek through the mountains of Peru will take Miss Watts about a week. She plans to begin her travels at the start of April.

Miss Watts will be travelling with a friend, and hopes to stay in Peru for a week after she has completed the trail.

Whizz-kidz, the Tesco charity of the year, began in 1990 and has since helped over 4,500 disabled children. There are almost 400 more children currently on their waiting list.
