A ROYSTON man raised more than £1,000 for Cancer Research UK by taking part in a sponsored walk.

Carlo Zambonini collected £1,044 in sponsorship by completing the Hertfordshire Way, a 166-mile long course beginning and ending in Royston.

He presented Judy Gavine, chairman of the Royston branch of Cancer Research UK, with a cheque.

Carlo has already set his sights on his next challenge, which will be climbing the three peaks of Great Britain - Snowdon, Ben Nevis, and Scafell Pike in July.

He said: "I'm going with a few other patrons of the North Star pub in Royston.

"We're just about ready to go, and really looking forward to it."

The group is seeking sponsorship and support, and anyone interested should contact Mr Zambonini on 01763 246313.
