Multiple sheds were broken into in Foxton at the weekend, with a telescope and a model steam engine taken during one of the incidents.

Householders in Station Road called police after discovering their garden sheds had been broken into sometime during Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

The first report was received by officers at about 8.10am yesterday, where offenders tried to force a lock on a wooden shed but were unsuccessful.

They then forced the wood to open the door, but a police spokeswoman said that nothing appears to have been taken.

The second report came in at about 12.15pm yesterday. In this incident a padlock on a shed door was forced open but nothing stolen.

A third report was received 30 minutes later, where a shed was entered but, again, nothing was stolen.

And the fourth report was received at about 1pm yesterday – where a Celestron telescope and a five-inch brass Gauge Live steam engine were stolen from a shed.

Officers were also called at 10.30am yesterday to reports of a burglary at a shop in Meldreth’s Whitecroft Road.

A police spokeswoman said: “It is believed offenders broke in between 5pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday. They broke a padlock on the barn door before entering and stealing a strimmer and four chainsaws.”
