Major Nick Bateson, who had been based at Bassingbourn Barracks 15 years ago, died last week in an accident involving a coach outside Basra Air Station.

The Kent-born officer died from his injuries in hospital.

He had been in Iraq for only three months, where he had been supporting communications between the UK and Iraq-based British forces.
